    In terms of ferry passenger numbers, the Central corridor was again the largest corridor on the island of Ireland. With passenger ferry services on all four corridors, accounted for 55% of all such traffic in 2018.

    RoRo performed strongly, w/ handling over one million RoRo units in 2018. On an all-island basis, Dublin accounts for 51% of all RoRo traffic. The Central corridor between Dublin and Great Britain, is the largest at 44%. While is biggest operator.

    We would like to thank of who supplied us with valuable LoLo data for the Irish Maritime Transport Economist. The data highlights the clear trend in the movement towards larger LoLo vessels calling into Ireland, and TEU capacity in 2018.

    LoLo traffic increased again in Ireland, in terms of laden import and export traffic, with all three Irish ports growing in 2018. Additionally, the Netherlands was again the leading country for Irish LoLo traffic at 62%, while the UK declined from 15% in 2017 to 11% in 2018.

    The iShip Indexes for Lift-on/Lift-off (LoLo) and Roll-on/Roll-off (RoRo) traffic through Irish ports increased again in 2018, growing by +4%. RoRo continued to perform strongly reaching a new high of 1,403 in Q3 in 2018, with LoLo performing strongly again last year.

    Our iShip Index, which is a quarterly weighted indicator that outlines trends within Ireland’s shipping industry, and as a result, the wider economy, showed an increase of port throughput by +4% in 2018, reaching a new iShip Index high of 1,054 in Q4.
