    Mary on her bike to raise money for the RNLI. Last year she raised €77,500 walking & this year she hopes to raise €100,000 with Storm Hanna fading out but with a strong head wind still blowing Mary arrives to meet the crew

    People ask me why I want to keep fundraising for after putting my body through so much while raising funds last year. Nights like these are why. They put their lives on the line to save others and they depend on fundraising to do it.

    Hope everyone is doing ok. So rough out there.

    The lifeboat was launched to go to the assistance of a 33 foot vessel which lost power in storm force conditions in Harbour these evening. Within minutes the vessel was taken under tow and the two people aboard were brought to safety

    Why I support fundraisers for -We live on an island -We're on the seas for work & pleasure -The sea has no mercy -Lifeboat crews are volunteers -They need training, kit & equipment -They rely on donations to exist -Rescue or recovery changes lives

    The RNLI is a charity which depends on donations to kit out and train it’s crew and maintain it’s fleet. Staggering to think it relies on the public and people like Mary who are doing their best to contribute ❤️

    It was also a stark reminder about how much we as an island depend on the RNLI. Men and women who will venture out in Storm Force 10 winds and waves that are 18 meters high. Volunteers who will drop everything and risk their lives to save others.

    Just watching Reeling in the Years tonight as it looked back at 2007. It was the year the Pere Charles and Honeydew II sank in a double tragedy off the south-east coast. It was incredibly poignant listening to the member talk about that night.
